The UHC2023 Forum has extended its hearty congratulations to Nigeria’s President-elect and Vice President-elect. The Forum, which advocates for universal health coverage in Nigeria, has urged the incoming administration to prioritize health in its national development agenda.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with sub-optimal health system performance and a high burden of diseases, the UHC2023 Forum believes that investing in health is crucial to achieving Universal Health Coverage and other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The UHC2023 forum reiterated that a monumental turnaround in the health sector performance is possible if health is accorded its deserved political priority, therefore the forum used the opportunity to call on both the President-elect and the Vice President-elect to see health spending beyond a mere expenditure but an investment that will yield significant and socio-economic development and human capital advancement.
