DGI Consult supported the Oyo State Ministry of Health to develop the state’s Health Financing Policy and Strategy in alignment with the state’s objective of ensuring predictable and sustainable financing for health and financial risk protection for all Oyo State residents as outlined in the Oyo State Strategic Health Development Plan (SSHDP II) 2018-2022.

The policy document highlights the health financing policy situation in the state and proposes key policy strategies across the three health financing functions of revenue generation, risk pooling and strategic purchasing. It articulates the strategic activities that will speed up the implementation of the policy along with the designated timelines, and a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework for measuring the outcome of the policy implementation.

The implementation of this health financing policy and strategy in Oyo State will optimize health funding in Oyo State by enabling the efficient utilization and distribution of the existing health sector funding to achieve the highest level of health outcomes. It will also facilitate the mobilization of additional resources for financing health towards hastening the achievement of Universal Health Coverage in the State.
