Background
Development Governance Consult (DGI Consult) is a purpose-driven governance, institutional capacity-strengthening and research consulting firm. Guided by this philosophy and driven by evidence for decision-making, DGI Consult delivers state-of-the-art technical assistance and program management through seasoned staff and a network of local and international consultants.
DGI Consult presently implements donor-funded projects in areas of health financing, especially health financing analytics, including fiscal space analysis, health costing and financial modelling and political economy analysis. DGI Consult also supports State Social Health Insurance Schemes and other government agencies to strengthen the institutional and operational frameworks that prepare them for effective operations. The firm also provides technical support in the areas of Human Resources for Health, health taxes and resource mobilization for health towards effective domestic resource mobilization for vertical disease programs, including integration of such programs into the benefits package of the health insurance schemes.
In furtherance of the firm’s evidence-policy-action interest, DGI Consult wishes to engage suitably qualified Health Policy and System Research consultants on an indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity basis.
Responsibilities
The Health Policy and System Research Consultants will support the DGI Consult research team in the following areas:
- Develop a robust learning agenda that articulates the research topics of interest, appropriate research methods and publication timelines
- Design detailed study protocols that will guide the entire publication processes
- Data collection, processing, analysis and evidence synthesis
- Manuscript preparation and quality assurance of the entire publications processes
- Support the process of translating evidence into policy and action
Person specification
- Advanced university degree in public health, health policy, or health systems. A doctorate in public health, health policy, or health systems is desirable.
- Over five years of relevant experience in global health research, including experience in the field of health policy and systems research with relevance to low- and middle-income countries.
- Track record of writing scientific articles relevant to the field of health policy and systems research in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in capacity building and mentoring in the field of health policy and systems research
- Experience in advancing and developing health policy and systems research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Good conceptual and practical understanding of health systems frameworks and their applicability to LMICs.
- Experience in data collection, analysis and evidence synthesis.
- Organizational abilities, including the planning and execution of research workshops.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
