DGI Consult supported the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to promote its health insurance enrolment drive through informal sector engagement. The firm co-facilitated a workshop to engage the umbrella bodies of the informal sector in Lagos State on enrolment of their members into the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS). The workshop served the purpose of sensitizing the informal sector groups about the LSHS and its benefits, and eliciting the experience of the informal sector with regards to health care access, quality of care and the financial hardship associated with health care access. At the workshop, the role of the informal sector groups in the implementation of LASHMA was established, and a course of action on effective informal sector engagements was charted.

The highlight of the workshop was the commitment of the leaders of the informal sector umbrella bodies to use their association as a platform to create awareness among their members and serve as proponents for enrolment and collection of health insurance premiums.
