To improve budget performance which has been identified as a major challenge that militates against adequate public spending on health in Ogun state, DGI Consult through the USAID-funded TB LON-3 Project engaged key stakeholders in the health and budget ministries and agencies through a 1-day capacity-building workshop.
The capacity building workshop was held to deepen the understanding of the stakeholders in the health sector on public financial management (PFM) processes and identify the factors responsible for the low budget execution rate as well as the PFM capacity gaps. The workshop also identified mechanisms for strengthening effective communication between the health and non-health agencies for improved budget planning and execution, and accountability mechanisms to be deployed for budget tracking.
