Development Governance International Consult (DGI Consult) Limited is a purpose-driven governance, institutional capacity-strengthening and research consulting firm. DGI Consult provides technical support to strengthen and improve the performance of organizations at the national and sub-national levels. We partner with national and subnational government institutions, bilateral and multilateral organizations, and development partners to address development challenges.
DGI Consult periodically reviews and verifies the accuracy of its financial records and ensures that the company complies with tax laws. Therefore, the company requires the services of an accounting firm to provide external audit and tax services.
DGI Consult wishes to engage a suitably qualified firm to provide external audit and tax consultancy services as described below.
1. External Audit
Responsibilities:
- Preparing audit reports: The auditor will review the company’s financial statements, including the statement of financial position, profit or loss statement and cash flow statement, and prepare an audit report based on the findings.
- Computation of tax liabilities: The auditor will periodically monitor and inspect DGI Consult’s accounting books to verify that they are accurate and comprehensive. The firm will compute tax liability and calculate annual tax returns.
- Reporting: The auditor will identify errors, omissions, and irregularities, including any significant deficiencies in internal control during the audit, report such cases to the Directors, and work with the Directors to investigate the intent of possible errors.
- Verification of supporting documentation: The auditor will verify that all transactions are carried out with proper supporting documentation to avoid penalties, judicial scrutiny, etc.
2. Tax Services
Responsibilities:
- Acting as the company representative: The tax consultant will act as the company’s representative during tax audits.
- Preparing tax documents: The tax consultant will collect the necessary information from the company, calculate the taxes due, and prepare the appropriate documentation.
- Filing tax returns: The tax consultant will prepare the company’s monthly and annual tax returns and collect the tax certificates for the company and individual staff.
- Providing tax advice: The tax consultant will make suggestions to improve the company’s filing and simplify the process.
- Regular meetings: The tax consultant will communicate with the company to explain tax issues and monitor the company’s compliance with its tax obligations
- Keeping up with the tax laws: The consultant will ensure that the company is updated with the latest tax laws and regulations.
Requirements
The firm must possess the following;
- Certificate of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission
- Evidence of registration with the office of the Auditor General for the Federation
- Evidence of the company’s current tax clearance certificates for the last 3 years
- A valid license to practice as an audit and tax consulting firm
- Demonstrable experience in providing audit and tax services to medium and large-scale organizations in the private and public sectors
