To improve budgetary execution rate which has been identified as a major challenge that militates against adequate public spending on health in Lagos state, DGI Consult engaged key stakeholders in the health and central budget agencies through a capacity-building workshop. The capacity building workshop was held to deepen the understanding of stakeholders on public financial management (PFM) processes in Lagos State and identify the factors responsible for low budget execution rate as well as the PFM capacity gaps among the officials of the health sector Ministry Departments and Agencies. The workshop also identified mechanisms for strengthening communication between the health and non-health agencies for improved budget planning and execution, and accountability mechanisms to be deployed.
