In the quest for improving financing for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), which has other socio-economic implications beyond the health sector, DGI Consult was engaged by Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) to conduct a detailed Fiscal Space Analysis (FSA) for SRH in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Rivers States.
The FSA identified the factors responsible for low government expenditure on SRH/FP services and commodities and the potential sources through which additional resources can be mobilized to adequately finance and expand access to quality and affordable SRH and family planning (FP) services in the states.
Predictive financial scenarios and the impacts of each scenario in bridging the gap in SRH financing were also developed across the four states. Findings and recommendations from the analysis will be disseminated to relevant stakeholders in the four states to ensure the recommendations are translated into implementable policy thrusts that could redefine the SRH financing landscape in the states.
