To improve the design and implementation of health policy in Nigeria, which is largely shaped by the interplay of influence and interests of relevant actors and institutions, members of DGI Consult are glad to have worked with other health policy experts to publish a potential-policy shaping article titledThe Political Economy of the Design of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in Nigeria: A Retrospective Analysis for Prospective Action

The research which was published by the Health Systems and Reform Journal identified the effect of the interplay of influence and interests of stakeholders group on the design of the BHCPF and their implications for its implementation. The paper also makes recommendations that can guide the future design of policies and concludes that understanding and managing stakeholders’ influence/interest dynamics can create an accelerated consensus, minimize obstacles, and efficiently mobilize resources for achieving health system policy and reform objectives.
